Hey you might find this useful: next time you have to take the tank off (for something complex, like checking your sparkplug !!!!!! one of the bad points to the Savage), try lubricating the rubber bushings with liquid soap. This should allow the tank to slide on easier, and the soap just "melts" away over time. One of my friends gave me this suggestion that he used on a similar problem, I haven't tried it yet, but I'm going to have to soon to touch up the scratches I put in the frame the last time I was wrestling with the tank!!!!
